Table View is newer housing on open ground facing Table Bay, and it is probably the windiest suburb we build for anywhere in the country.

What we see in Table View

Wind decides the build here. A double garage door on an exposed Table View frontage carries serious load when the South-Easter is up, and the failure is predictable: the curtain flexes, the ends chew at the guides, and after a few seasons it comes out of them. We fit wind locks and brace to the measured span rather than to a nominal size, and we do it on every exposed opening rather than only when asked.

Salt is the second factor and it applies across the whole suburb. Galvanised heavily, cut edges sealed, stainless fixings. Because the housing here is mostly newer and reasonably consistent, these are otherwise straightforward jobs: sound openings, proper driveways, and a door that will last if it is specified for where it actually stands.

Getting on site in Table View

Access on the West Coast side is generally easy — open streets, proper driveways, room to work. The survey covers the reveal at three heights, the fixing substrate, and the exposure, because both the salt and the wind here are stronger than they look from the driveway and both change what we build.

Motors, backup and load shedding

We size the motor to the measured curtain weight and add for wind: an exposed door working against the South-Easter draws more than the same door inland, and a motor chosen from a chart on width alone will run hot. Control gear is sealed against salt, backup is fitted as standard, and the manual release goes somewhere you can actually reach.

Repairs on any make

We repair any make. On this side of the metro the two common failures are corrosion at the cut edges and fixings, and guide wear from wind flexing the curtain. The second is the one people do not expect — a door that rattles in the wind is wearing its guide ends every time it does it. We will tell you whether wind locks fitted now will save the door or whether it is already too far gone.

We quote from a measured survey and the survey is free anywhere in the metro. What moves the price is the size of the opening, the slat gauge the job actually needs, whether it is motorised, the corrosion specification your address genuinely requires, wind locks and bracing where the opening is exposed, and whether the reveal needs making good first. We itemise those rather than handing you one number, so you can see what you are paying for and take out anything you do not want. A rough width and height over the phone is enough for a ballpark; we confirm it on site before anything is built.

How soon we can be there

Breakdowns in Table View are attended same-day wherever we can reach you, and our teams work the metro every day. A door that will not close is treated as urgent. For new work the survey is normally within a day or two of your call, manufacture takes a few working days because every curtain is built to your measurements at our own works, and installation is a morning for a single and most of a day for a double or a wide opening with automation.
